Magnolias are plants of very ancient origin, as indicated by the simple structure of the flower. A large variety of magnolia species is found in the mountainous regions of China and Japan. From this locality, the garden collection includes only the hardiest species that bloom before the leaves bloom at the end of April. Magnolias, which grow in North and Central America, bloom in early June, when their leaves have already bloomed. The Botanical Garden has the largest collection of magnolias in Latvia - 17 species and varieties can be viewed there.
In order not to miss the magnolia blossom, we started planning a visit to the garden this weekend. Garden opening hours: 10.00-21.00, entrance ticket prices can be viewed HERE.
